What Can You Expect?
Let us endeavor to make the name of God glorious and renowned.Thomas Watson
Thy Kingdom Comma is a Christian living blog and podcast “to make the name of God glorious and renowned” in you, me, and the world we live in.
Why “Thy Kingdom Comma”?
Because all the good Christian blog names were taken. 😉
Well, yeah, there’s that…but also because, seriously, thinking about Jesus really should make us pause. He is God. He is Lord. King. Savior. And so much more. So when we read and think about him, we should stop to reflect on who he is–certainly more than our fast-paced world wants us to.
To hear my explanation of the name, listen to Episode 000 of the podcast.
Who is Writing These Posts?
Unless otherwise noted, posts are written by me, Anthony Russo. Who am I? As the old saying goes, I’m a nobody trying to tell anybody about Somebody.
Jesus Changed My Life
That said, here’s what I wrote on an index card one time:
I really am what the Bible calls “Born Again”. I’m not who I was, my life and my heart are completely different. Selfishness, guilt, and shame were replaced with a genuine love for God and people. I am not who I was; Jesus changed my life. He can change yours, too. Don’t waste another day.
What Do I Believe?
I’m a born-again Christian holding to traditional positions on the triune God, the deity of Christ, salvation by faith alone in Christ alone, and the inspiration, inerrancy, and sufficiency of Scripture.
I earned my master’s in Biblical Counseling from Luther Rice College & Seminary in 2015 and hope to complete my Masters in Divinity in Spring 2021. I used to have a Christian blog called Throw Away Everything (“Why will you not repent, throw away everything, and serve the Lord?” Paul Washer). I’m also the author of Pleasant Places: Short Essays on the Christian Life.
Being Baptist, I agree with The 1689 Baptist Confession of Faith and affirm the Baptist Faith & Message (2000). I also have a loving fellowship in Christ with those brothers and sisters in Christ who affirm the Westminster Confession instead, or otherwise fall under the umbrella of evangelical Christianity.
I strongly oppose the word-faith prosperity movement and modern “easy-believism” Christianity that has become the hallmark of many churches.
My wife and I have been married since 2007. We are members at Grace Baptist Church in Taylors, South Carolina.
When not reading or writing, I also make a living as a IT project manager. I’ll never turn down a cup of coffee (preferably dark roast) and when I’m feeling nostalgic I’ll listen to The Beatles. Wondering about the photo above? That’s me on a missions trip to Uganda in 2019, one of the highlights of my life.
